Martin Lardén is head of the Treatment, Work and Education Unit at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service (SPPS). He is a clinical psychologist and researcher in the field of criminal rehabilitation with more than 25 years’ experience in assessment, treatment, research and development in correctional services for young and adult offenders. From 1996 he worked as a clinical psychologist in the National Board of Institutional Care. A large part of his work consisted of research and development, until he joined the SPPS in 2008. He has implemented several new methods of crime prevention and criminal justice rehabilitation in Sweden and has supported development of crime prevention strategies in several authorities and communities in Sweden. His research has focused on risk factors and treatment of serious offending behavior. International cooperation with countries like Canada, England, Norway and Finland among others, has been an important part of his work.
