Biography

Alak Manna Received his PhD degree in Biotechnology/Immuno-pharmacology from University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India in 2015. After that he moved to Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan as Research Fellow. He moved to Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, USA as Postdoctoral Research fellow and then Research Associate Scientist. He has extensively studied redox biology and its interventions in developments of anticancer therapeutics in different human hematological malignancies, therapeutic resistant subtype and solid tumors. He also worked on drug induced immune modulation of tumor associated macrophage (TAM) and MDSC via polarizing nagative CD4+ T cells toward IL-17+ T cells. He is currently working in understanding of B cell biology especially B-regulatory cells (B-regs) its role in development and maintenance of immunologic tolerance along with T- regulatory cells. He is developing immuno-therapy/adoptive cell based therapy and vaccine development against hematologic malignancies and Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM).

Research Interests

I am a Ph.D. in Biotechnology and Pharmacology with research experience in understanding of molecular interaction of tumor associated immune cells (T cell/NK cells)/regulatory immune cells (Tregs/Bregs) with tumor cells. The goal of my research is to understand the molecular interactions between immune and cancer cell in tumor microenvironment, epigenetic changes and metabolic reprogramming of immune/regulatory immune cells. The ultimate goal is to develop effective immunotherapeutic regimen/therapeutic vaccination with universal applicability against cancer.
