Biography

Carmela saturnine completed her Degree in Pharmacy with voting: 110 cum laude; from University of Naples in 1980, also she wrote a thesis in Medicinal Chemistry entitled “etheroarylcarbossilic acids: preparation and anti-inflammatory activity. In October 1990 she completed her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences with the object of research “Imidazo-derivatived anti-inflammatory action, studies on structure-activity relationships and mechanism of action from University of Naples. From September 1993 - October 2001 she worked as a researcher in the department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Medicinal Chemistry from University of Salerno. In November 2001 she worked as Department of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences - University of Salerno (Associate Professor, Medicinal Chemistry and Toxicology, CHIM08-disciplinary field). Carmela saturnino participated in the following co-funded projects (PRIN): April 2018, she qualified to Full Professor in Chemical Foundations of Technologies and Medicinal Chemistry & also Co-author of over 100 papers in international scientific journals, Over 230 communications at national and international conferences. She has won several awards and research awards and also Co-author of 6 patents, some of which are PCT Founding member and Director of an academic spin off from the Title: TNcKillers s.r.l. She has received awards and scientific awards in pharmaceutical research. She Co-ordinates a research group that deals with the production of molecules with antitumor activity and in particular for TN breast cancer. In September 2016, she acts as professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Toxicology 1 and of Drugs Analysis 2, at the Department of Science, University of Basilicata, Potenza, Italy.

Research Interests

Design Synthesis and Biological studies of new Antitumor drugs Organo-Metallic complexes with antimicrobial activity Realization of DDS for the control release of drugs.
