Biography

Veronica Olmedo Vega has been an associate professor at the Faculty of Education and Social Work of Valladolid since 2015. Verónica Olmedo Vega, has a degree in Social Work, a degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology, and a PhD in Health Sciences, with a pioneering thesis on comprehensive stroke rehabilitation. She has been a social worker for more than 16 years, of which the last 7 have been dedicated exclusively to the care of people with neurological disease. He has more than a dozen scientific publications on neurological social work. In 2020, he received the Social Work Award for his publication entitled The 4 "q" of neurological social work: What, who, why and for what. He has participated in numerous national and international congresses, conferences and specialization seminars on neurological social work. The Luzon Foundation recognized, in 2021, as the best social communication its presentation on intervention with people diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. She is a member of various commissions and technical committees in the socio-health field, among which the scientific group on Strategy of Neurodegenerative Diseases, Parkinsons and Parkinsionism, of the Ministry of Health, stands out. She has several publications in neurology journals of recognized international prestige, on Comprehensive post-stroke rehabilitation, on the social factors that condition access to it, on long-term recovery and the role of neurological social work in this process.
