Biography

Jorge Sales Marques is a pediatrician, with subspecialty in pediatric endocrinology, medical genetics and inborn errors of metabolism. He trained in the Faculty of Medicine in Porto University, Portugal. His practice has been in the most prestigious hospitals in the North of Portugal. For his subspecialties he worked in Paris, France with Professor JM Saudubray and Santiago de Compostela in Spain, with professor M Pombo. In Macau, he received a Praise of the Portuguese government for his work and commitment in the areas of pediatrics, endocrinology and genetics. He was the director of the Pediatric department in Vila Nova de Gaia in Portugal, founder of Gaia Pediatric Association, member of Portuguese neonatal screening and many other societies in Portugal and other countries. He has published numerous papers in pediatrics, genetics, metabolic and endocrinology journals around the World. He was President of the Portuguese endocrinology society. He has won 27 awards in Portugal and other countries. He has coordinated the publication of a pediatric book Pediatria em 5 minutos, for pediatricians. Is author of 4 books, Baixa e Alta estatura como avaliar, for healthcare professionals; Pediatric book for parents: questions and answers, O que os pais devem saber de pediatria, O bebe no 1 ano de vida perguntas e respostas for parents. He is the Guest Editor of Portuguese and International journals. He was also an invited speaker, moderator and organizer for a great number of scientific events. Currently he is the director of Pediatric and Neonatology department of Centro Hospitalar Conde S. Januario in Macau, China and President of Association of Macau Portuguese Speaking Physicians.
