Carlos Mauricio Barbosa

Biography

C.M. Barbosa is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Univ. of Porto (Portugal). He is responsible for different units of the Master Programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharm.D. program), Pharmaceutical Technology and Pharmaceutical Chemistry. His major fields are Pharmaceutical Technology, Nanotechnology, Biopharmacy, Pharmacy Compounding, Cosmetics, Medical Devices, Health Systems and Public Policies and Regulatory Affairs (medicines, market access, medical devices and IVD, cosmetics and compounded medications). In 2018, he received the title of Specialist in Regulatory Affairs from the Portuguese Pharmaceutical Society. He is also a Consultant of the WHO, Counsellor of the Portuguese Council of Ethics for the Life Sciences and President of the Council for Innovation of the Portuguese Association of Engineering and Health Management.
He received his PhD in Pharmacy from the Fac. of Pharmacy of the Univ. of Porto in 1995. He was President of the Portuguese Pharmaceutical Society/Order of the Portuguese Pharmacists (Novâ€™09-Febâ€™16), member of the Advisory Council of the Portuguese Medicines Agency and of the Panel of Experts of the Committee for the Hospital Medicines National Formulary. He cooperates with the Portuguese-Speaking Countries, mainly on Pharmacy Education, Health and Medicinesâ€™ Public Policies, Professional Development and Associativism. He coordinated the foundation of the first Pharm.D. program in Mozambique, of which he was the Scientific and Pedagogic Coordinator and Visiting Professor (1997-2007). He is member and founder of several national and international scientific associations. He is the president of the General Assembly of Portuguese Society of Cosmetic Sciences and was president of the Board of the Spanish-Portuguese Local Chapter of Controlled Release Society and member of the Board of the International Society of Pharmaceutical Compounding.

Development of pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulations development and validation of analytical methods Pharmacy education healthcare systems and public policies regulatory affairs.
