Michael Hanna was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology and Environmental Sciences at Texas A&M University-Commerce. In 2012 he was diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Later that year he was diagnosed with melanoma. The melanoma was successfully surgically removed. Unfortunately the standard chemotherapy for Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma was not successful for treatment. Therefore in 2013 he endured a stem cell transplant. Because of the rigorous nature of treatment he could no longer continue with his duties at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Fortunately he is happy to state that he has been cancer free for four years. Currently he serves as a Lecturer and the Immunology and Neurobiology Laboratory Coordinator at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Previously he was an instructor of anatomy and physiology I & II at Blinn College in Bryan, TX. He writing to apply for the Editorial Board Member of Vaccines & Vaccination position he was emailed about. He is fully aware of the responsibilities and that this is a not remunerated position. In 2004 he received my Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of Rochester. Subsequently he had four years of postdoctoral training at the National Institutes for Neurological Disorders and Stroke at the National Institutes of Health. For the last fourteen years he had been committed to providing quality higher education to undergraduate and graduate students for majors and non-major students. He have taught face to face and online courses covering ten different subject areas including Human Biology-Man and the Environment, and Human Biology-Structure and Function for non biology majors; as well as Biological Literature, General Physiology, Immunology, Endocrinology, Fundamentals of Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Advanced Cell Biology, Advanced Immunology, Advanced Neuroscience, Vertebrate Endocrinology, Pharmacology, and Genetic Analysis and Investigation with a focus on bioinformatics and Anatomy & Physiology I and II. During his time at TAMU-Commerce he had received many student evaluations. On a scale of 1-5; 1 being excellent, 5 being unsatisfactory, he had averaged a rating of 1.79. Appreciation of his teaching excellence has been recognized with two Texas A&M University System Teaching Excellence Awards in 2010 and 2011. Furthermore during the Texas A&M annual research symposia he won first place for outstanding faculty research presentation in 2009 and 2011; the only years in which he entered. These awards are clearly indicative of his communication skills. Recently he has taught cell and general biology lecture and laboratory courses at the University of Texas at Tyler and Anatomy & Physiology I and II at Blinn College. For the last year he have taught Bioscience I (1404) and Immunology (4752) laboratory sections for which he was nominated as finalist for the Outstanding Professional Staff Award.
