Singla did BVSC &AH and M.V.Sc. in Veterinary Parasitology from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana with Punjab State Marketing Board Scholarship and Junior Research Fellowship from ICAR, New Delhi, respectively. Served as Veterinary Officer in State Government (Punjab) and Assistant Professor of Veterinary Parasitology at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. After completion of Ph.D. promoted as Associate Professor and Professor. Appointed as Professor-cum-Head, Department of Veterinary Parasitology, College of Veterinary Science, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, Punjab, India on June 20, 2011 and successfully completed the term on 19th Jun, 2015 and Joined for the second term on October 30, 2017. During the period of more than 24 years of his service under Punjab State Govt., PAU and GADVASU, Ludhiana, he planned, promoted coordinated and conducted research, education and extension on parasitic diseases to minimize economic losses to livestock industry by way of improved diagnosis and control with ultimate aim to enhance the socio-economic status of the farmers of Punjab state. Besides various best Poster/Oral Presentation/Best Research Article Awards, he was conferred Dr. M.S. Randhawa Gold Medal (2001) by PAU, Ludhiana and Prof. Dr. B.V. Rao Gold Medal (2002) by Indian Veterinary Association and Siksha Rattan Puruskar (2009) for meritorious services, outstanding performance and remarkable role in Veterinary education and research in the field of Veterinary Parasitology. He is receipt of Prestigious Dr. D. P. Banerjee memorial Oration Award 2013 and Smt. Nisha Mani Parija Oration Award-2014 by IAAVP in recognition of valuable contributions and achievements in the field of Veterinary Protozoology and Parasitic Zoonoses, respectively. He bagged international funding on competitive basis from Commonwealth Science Council (London), Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France, World Association for Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and Indian Council of Agricultural Research to attend various international scientific meetings, workshops and trainings at Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, England, France, Italy, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Scotland, United States of America and Vietnam. He is Associate Chief Editor for ‘Indian Journal of Animal Research’, Academic Editor for ‘British Microbiology Research Journal’, Regional editor for ‘Research Journal of Parasitology’ and ‘Pakistan Journal of Life & Social Science’, Editor for ‘Journal of Veterinary Medicine & Animal Health’ and ‘Journal of Research in Biology’, Associate Editor for ‘Journal of Parasitology & Vector Biology’. He is on the editorial board of more than 20 internationally reputed journals. He Guided Department of Science and Technology, sponsored visiting foreign scientist Dr. Diaeldin Ahmed Salih, from Sudan under ‘CV Raman Visiting Fellowship. Another visiting foreign scientist, Dr. Diallo Talibe, from Guinea financed by the Centre for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and other Developing Countries (NAMS & T Centre) on "Research Training Fellowship for Developing Country Scientists (RTF-DCS)" successfully completed his training for six months (from 10th April 2015 to 24th September 2015). One more visiting foreign scientist Mr. Mohamed Abdelmoghny Ramadan Helal from Egypt financed by NAMS & T Centre on RTF-DCS during the year 2016-2017 is working on the topic entitled “Anthelmintic Resistance Diagnosis in Gastrointestinal Nematodes of Small Ruminants†under my guidance from 05.06.2017. He is Fellow of National Academy of Veterinary Sciences, Indian Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology and Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH). He is also member of various international and National societies including World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology (WAAVP). Serving as Joint Secretary of Indian Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology (IAAVP).
