Biography

Leticia Moreno Fierros is a Mexican Mucosal immunologist researcher, she is full professor and responsible of mucosal immunity laboratory at the Biomedicine Research Unit of the FES Iztacala at National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She was coordinator of this research Unit from 2008 to 2012 period. She imparts immunology and mucosal immunology courses to under graduate and graduate students and is accredited as doctoral tutor on five distinct postgraduate studies at UNAM. She is titular C full professor at the UNAM since 2004, National researcher level 3, and has the level D Premiums program to Performance Full Time Academic Staff of the UNAM. Moreno-Fierros completed her Ph. D. in 1995 and Ms. Sci. (1989) Degrees at the Research and Advanced Studies Center (CINVESTAV del IPN) and was graduated with honors in Biology at the UNAM FES Iztacala (1986). She completed a visiting stance as an invited researcher at the Cellular Biology Department of CINVESTAV del IPN. Her research has been mainly focused to mucosal immunology, vaccines and to the characterization the adjuvant properties of Bacillus thuringiensis Cry1Ac protoxin, but also has contributed to other biomedical research fields. She has published 73 research papers and has approximately 1500 cites to the publications. She has participated as reviewer of more than 35 manuscripts submitted to distinct research journals and served as editor some research journals. She also has evaluated numerous research projects funded by diverse sources. She has obtained various grants to support its research. Moreno-Fierros has also contributed importantly to research human resource training as has been mentor of 3 postdoctoral students and has graduated 9 doctorate students, 9 master in sciences students and 23 bachelor in biology students, and currently she is directing 5 doctorate and 2 master in sciences students. Finally Moreno-Fierros has received some scientific recognitions such as the academic merit 1999 awarded by the division of graduate studies of UNAM FES Iztacala, the Tlanepantla municipal medal women 2002, by research activity, the State Prize of Science and Technology 2008 in the health area awarded by the State Government of Mexico and the Mexico State Council of Science and Technology, and Recognition sor Juana Ines de la Cruz 2009.
