Biography

Yimeng Wang was born in Linyi City, China and moved to U.S. at 2008 for Ph.D. study with full research assistance scholarship. As a first year Ph.D. student, He was rewarded with G. T. Johnson Memorial Endowed Scholarships for outstanding academic performance. His Ph.D. studies focus on influenza and host interaction. He employed proteomic strategy to study host responses to influenza viral protein, NS1, and we found a few interesting proteins that can help or inhibit viral replication through protein-protein interactions. He published several peer-reviewed publications to report our discoveries, which supply valuable information for drug design via protein-protein interaction inhibition. After around 4 years study, he graduated with a Ph.D. degree and was recruited to work for Scripps Research Institute as a competitive candidate. Scripps Research Institute as the largest private research institute in the world has top researching level with several Nobel laureates. From here, his research mainly focuses on HIV vaccine and neutralizing antibody. They used edge-cut technologies to study antibodies, design vaccine and develop anti-viral medicines. After 2 years study in Scripps, he moved to the University of Maryland, ranked as top 50 universities in U.S. for a more suitable research career. They continue HIV research and also attempt to develop a safe Zika vaccine. He aim to devote his life to medical research for the public health improvement.
