Biography

Abel Pintois PhD in Industrial Engineering from the New University of Lisbon with research topic “Safety assessment in construction industry”; obtained his B.Sc. (5 years degree) in Electrical Engineering from the Engineering Institute of Lisbon (ISEL) in 1992. He received his M.Sc. in Ergonomics and Safety from the Faculty of Human Factors (FMH), Lisbon University, in 2002. He completed a post-graduation course in Safety Engineering and Environment Management from the South Health Sciences Institute (ISCSS) and he is a certified Safety Engineering from the Portuguese Institute of Quality (ISQ). He worked for 25 years, as safety engineer in several domains and companies: electrical distribution, steelworks, pulp & paper and construction. He published several manuals (in Portuguese) about “Safety on Construction”, “Safety Management Systems”, “Environment Management Systems”, “Lockout-Tagout” and “Quality” as well as several technical reports in the topics of safety (in English and Portuguese).
