Biography

Dr. Hiroshi Shibuya was engaged in the research for the transcriptional mechanism of IFN and IL-2 signaling pathway with Professor Tadatsugu Taniguchi at Institute for Molecular and Cellular Biology, Osaka University from 1985 through 1994, and obtained PhD in 1990. He was the nengagedin the research of TGF signaling and the Wnt signaling as an associate professor with Professor Naoto Ueno in Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Hokkaido University and Natl. Inst. for Basic Biology, Okazaki from 1994 through 2000.He then started his own group as a professor in Department of Molecular Cell Biology, Medical Research Institute, Tokyo Medical and Dental University in 2000.

Research Interests

Various signalling molecules inducing the cell-growth and differentiation regulate morphogenesis and organogenesis of the vertebrate. The failure of these signal molecules has also been caused with induction of the diseases. Therefore, the elucidation of signal transduction network regulating generation and differentiation is important upon clarifying the mechanism of morphogenesis; organogenesis and diseases. Focus on the signal transduction network regulating the mechanisms of morphogenesis and organogenesis in developmental process.
