Biography

Zhi Duan graduated from Cancer Research Institute, Central South University in China with PhD degree majoring in Pathology and Pathophysiology. During her PhD study, she focused on molecular mechanism of AID induced class switching to IgA in epithelial cancer cells. She also focused on different signaling pathways in cancer cells. As a postdoctoral research fellow in Albert Einstein College of Medicine, her major interest is mechanism of somatic hypermutation on immunoglobulin variable region, which is curial for antibody affinity maturation. Now she focuses on the role of HIV encoded protein in somatic hypermutation which may contribute to B cell malignance in AIDS patients. She has published 8 publications including 3 papers as first author. She is not only proficient in immunology, but also cancer biology and molecular biology such as cancer epigenetics, cell apoptosis and necrosis, DNA damage and repair and stem cell research.
