Biography

Prof. Chintamani , commonly referred to as a walking book of surgery amongst his colleagues and students and a compassionate ,competent surgeon amongst his patients is a globally known and recognized surgeon with his students serving as eminent doctors across the globe and his patients following him from everywhere. He is Professor and Head (formerly) and Surgery Unit chief at the renowned and arguably amongst the largest in India tertiary care hospital -Vardhman Mahavir Medical College , Safdarjang Hospital New Delhi, India. He has been a great leader and has occupied many leading positions including leading the Delhi chapter of Association of Surgeon of India (ASI) as Secretary first and then as President and later on taking over the secretariat at National level .He had served remarkably two consecutive terms as distinguished member of the “Governing Council” of the Association of Surgeons of India and later on as the Chairman and editor in chief for more than six years for the prestigious Indian Journal of Surgery-the mouth piece of Association of Surgeons of India. He is presently the editor in Chief of the prestigious “Breast Global Journal” and was formerly the Joint editor for Indian Journal of Surgical Oncology. He has single handedly revived the Indian Chapter of the American College of Surgeons and is serving second term as the “Governor at large” and President of the ACS -India chapter. During his tenure he has been instrumental in adding the largest number of fellows as initiates to the American college including more than 150 this year. He has worked extremely hard to take the foot prints of American College of Surgeons across India. He is very active globally in almost all surgical colleges of the world in various capacities . He is Fellow of the Royal colleges of UK .He is also the International surgical advisor and examiner for the Royal college of Surgeons of Edinburgh UK. He is also “Member” of the prestigious “ Academy of master surgeon educators” of the ACS.He has been the founder President elect of the association of Breast Surgeons of India and is the present President of the “Asian Society of Mastology(ASOMA)”.
