Biography

Xiaofa Qin obtained his MD, PhD in Beijing Medial University, Beijing, China then became a lecturer and associate professor there. Later, he came to the United States and engaged in medical research as a postdoc, research instructor and assistant professor consecutively in Louisiana State University (LSU) Medical Center in Shreveport, University of Cincinnati college of Medicine, and University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)/Rutgers (merged in 2013)-New Jersey Medical School. He brings forward a theory that impaired inactivation of digestive proteases due to reduction of certain kinds of gut bacteria along with the improved hygiene and inhibition by some dietary chemicals may have played a critical role in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD, including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease) and many other diseases emerged and dramatically increased in modern society, as the result of damage of gut barrier and increased infiltration of bacterial and dietary components. Recently, he founded GI Biopharma Inc aiming at developing some new treatments for these diseases.
