Biography

Dr. Kshipra Singh graduated from the Central Drug Research Institute, India and currently a junior faculty in the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology at the Vanderbilt Medical Center Nashville, TN, USA. She developed a strong interest in identifying novel natural compounds as therapeutic targets against Plasmodium spp. during her early scientific career that continued during her training in gastrointestinal inflammation and therapeutic interventions. They conducted an array of studies investigating mechanisms of inflammation in human and murine models of IBD and potential therapeutic interventions (Apolipoprotein E-mimetic peptide, COG112, and L-arginine) in mouse models. Her research includes extensive experience in cell biology and molecular biology, immunology and microbiome with a focus on developing biomarkers for preclinical and clinical research against colitis, colon cancer, gastritis and gastric cancer. These studies have included work in multiple models of colitis (dextran sulfate sodium, Citrobacter rodentium, T cell transfer) and colitis-associated carcinoma. Various approaches to analysis of mucosal inflammation and carcinogenesis have been optimized, including immune cell isolation and flow cytometry for surface markers and cytokines, and Luminex assays.
