Debabrata Datta, is presently working in the capacity of Head, Radiological Physics & Advisory Division of Health, Safety & Environment Group, BARC. His academic excellences are M.Sc (Nuclear Physics) from University College of Science and Technology, Calcutta, 1981-1983, M. Phil (Physics), SAHA Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP), Calcutta, 1983-1984. Graduated from BARC Training School under OCES in the field of Nuclear Engineering in 1984 – 1985. He PhD (Comp Science) from Mumbai University in the year 2000. He has worked on design and development of induction furnace to produce borosilicate glass used for immobilizing high level radioactive waste. He has substantially contributed in the field of radiation shielding design and criticality safety evaluation of fuel reprocessing facility (PREFRE-2, KARP, KWIP, ITF, Kalpakkam). He has established Laser based data communication between two remote laboratories at Tarapur. His proficiency is on software development using soft computing technique. He has developed much software in the field of radiation safety, mathematical modeling, sensitivity and uncertainty analysis. He has contributed in the field of uncertainty modeling of imprecise system using fuzzy set theory, interval analysis and evidence theory. He is the author of more than twenty application software and some of them are well validated and acceptable by palisade corp. USA. He has more than 180 publications in peer reviewed international journals, book chapters, international and national conferences to his credit.
