Biography

Sadek A. Nehmeh is Chief of PET and Nuclear Physics, and Associate Professor of Medical Physics in Radiology at Weill Cornell Medicine, New York, NY. He is also Associate Attending Physicist (Affiliate) at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY. He is certified in Medical Nuclear Physics by the American Board of Radiology and licensed by New York State. He is completed in Ph.D. in Particle Physics at Wayne State University, Detroit, MI, and his undergraduate Physics studies at the American University of Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon. His Research interest focus on molecular imaging using PET/CT and PET/MR, particularly imaging of tumor microenvironment (e.g. hypoxia, proliferation, angiogenesis). His work also involves Monte Carlo Simulations and detector development for PET imaging. He has successfully secured research grants from the USA National Institute of Health, as well as from General Electric Health Care.

Research Interests

Multi-disciplinary with focus on functional imaging using Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and with particular emphasis on multi-modality imaging (e.g. PET/CT and PET/MR); PI on a NIH grant that aims to assess the prognostic value of hypoxia in NSCLC patients undergoing chemo-radiation; using compartmental kinetic modelling and Co-PI on an internal grant from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center that aims to monitor myocardial toxicity post-therapy in breast cancer patient undergoing IMRT
