Biography

Koon-Pong Wong is a research scientist at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Los Angeles, California. He completed the B.Eng. degree (with first class honors) in electronic engineering and the Ph.D. degree from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1996 and 1999, respectively. His research focuses on quantitative analysis, computational algorithms, mathematical modeling and simulation, medical image analysis, and big data analytics, and their application in multimodality imaging of neurodegenerative diseases and cancers. Dr. Wong has published over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, conference proceedings, and book chapters. He received the Computer and Instrumentation Council Young Investigator Award (Second Prize) by the Society of Nuclear Medicine in 2009.He serves on the IFAC Technical Committee on Biological and Medical Systems (TC 8.2) and was the committee’s Executive Secretary between 2003 and 2008. He also serves as a member of editorial board, guest editor, and reviewer for several leading journals in the fields of biomedical engineering, medical physics, molecular imaging, and oncology.
