Maria da Glaria G Silva Cunha Graduated in Biological Sciences, Bachelor degree in Marine Biology and Master in Botany by the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (Brazil), and PhD from the Federal University of Pernambuco (2001). Associate Professor at the Federal University of Pernambuco, where has the opportunity to develop studies on the diversity of microalgae in coastal and oceanic areas. She has participated in national and international research projects, integrated with companies, acting as researcher with coordinator, resulting in a series of publications that represent a solid knowledge base on the identification of the phytoplankton associated with the hydrobiological characteristics of the estuarine and marine ecosystems. She has experience in the field of Taxonomy and Ecology, with emphasis in Ecology, working mainly in the following subjects: monitoring, phytoplankton, estuary, platform, oceanic region, biomass and marine microalgae. Currently, in her laboratory she advises 4 graduated students and 2 undergraduate students and supervisor's one post-doc.
