Dr. Thilini C Weeraratne is a senior lecturer in the Department of Zoology, Faculty of Science, University of Peradeniya. She has a B.Sc. special degree in Zoology and M.Phil. degree in Medical Entomology from University of Peradeniya. She has been on a Commonwealth Split Site scholarship for her Ph.D. and spent one year at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, United Kingdom. Her Ph.D. work was has been on DNA barcoding, investigation of genetic diversity and genetic structure of mosquitoes and, use of transcriptional age grading in determining the age structure of dengue vectors. She has an excellent research background and a deep interest in a wide range of research areas related to vector biology, molecular entomology and parasitology. She is a very active young postdoctoral researcher with many SCI publications and has presented her work in many local and international conferences.
