Biography

Erna Milunka Kojic, MD is an associate Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, NY and section Chief of Infectious Diseases at Mount Sinai St Luke’s and West Hospitals as of June 2016. Prior to joining Mount Sinai, she was an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. While at Brown, she served as the Medical Director of the Outpatient Infectious Disease and Immunology Center in Providence, RI. Her specific research interest are HPV and HIV co-infections among women. While at Brown, she served as the site Principal Investigator of the SUN study (Study to Understand the Natural History of HIV/AIDS in the HAART era), a multicenter CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) sponsored study following a cohort of over 700 persons for 7 years. Furthermore she was the Chair of the ACTG (AIDS Clinical Trials Group) 5240 protocol entitled “Safety and Immunogenicity of the Quadrivalent HPV Vaccine in HIV infected Women”. This protocol was instrumental in showing that the HPV vaccine was immunogenic and safe to use among HIV-infected women.

Both as the Medical Director of the Outpatient Infectious Disease and Immunology Center in Providence and Chief of ID at Mount Sinai St. Lukes and West, she focuses on developing and implementing an OPAT (Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Treatment) Program. As the section Chief of Infectious Diseases she is responsible for the administrative, clinica, research and educational aspects of the Division. As Chief of ID I continue to provide clinical care to HIV infected individuals and provide general ID consultative services at the Mount Sinai hospitals.
