Biography

Theresa Madaline, M.D. completed her medical education at the Thomas Jefferson University, Internal Medicine residency at the Mount Sinai Hospital, and Infectious Diseases fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM). After fellowship, she stayed at Montefiore as an Infectious Diseases attending and as the Co-director of the Microbiology and Infectious Diseases course at AECOM, later becoming the Clinical Director of Infectious Diseases Services at the Einstein Campus of Montefiore. She developed an outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy (OPAT) program to improve the standard of care received by patients discharged on IV antimicrobials and prevent hospital readmission. In 2016. She research, both locally and globally, has focused on HIV, global health, and Quality Improvement. Her work on HIV and malaria co-infection and best practice for pediatric HIV diagnosis in Malawi was funded by the Einstein Global Health Center Pilot Grant program. She is clinical work focuses on patients with a wide array of infectious diseases including HIV in both the inpatient and outpatient setting in a large university hospital setting, as well as travel medicine. She leads the clinical ID service, acts as coordinator of travel medicine services for all AECOM students and faculty traveling abroad, and coaches multiple performance improvement teams. She serves on the board of the Infectious Diseases Society of New York, and the Medical Education Workgroup of the Infectious Diseases Society of America. She is the recipient of several awards including the 2015 Infectious Diseases Clinical Leadership Award at Montefiore and a nomination for the 2018 Montefiore Department of Medicine Rising Star Award.
