Biography

Ifeanyi Sunday Onah is a distinguished academic in the field of applied mathematics with outstanding contributions to the understanding and application of mathematical principles in real-world contexts. With a profound expertise in mathematical modeling, he has earned his reputation as a leading authority in the mathematical modelling of infectious diseases and compuational models of the cardiovascular system. Ifeanyi Sunday Onah completed his first doctoral studies in Applied Mathematics at University of Nigeria, Nsukka and currently completing a second one at University of Glasgow, United Kingdom, where he demonstrated a remarkable aptitude for developing models and translating them using mathematical concepts to providing pragmatic solutions to different disease epidemics. In his first dissertation he explored mathematical modelling of the transmission of Lassa fever and this laid laid the foundation for his numerous works exploring different infectious diseases and providing intervention projections. Also, in his second dissertation he explored mathematical model to study the onset of retinal haemorrhage where in particular he looked at waves generated as a result of brain trauma can resonate at vessel discontinuities or junctions, significantly changing their properties. Throughout his academic journey, Ifeanyi Sunday Onah has been at the forefront of research in applied mathematics. His work has covered a broad spectrum of areas, including modelling of infectious diseases and cardiovascular flow system, resulting in numerous groundbreaking publications in prestigious journals. His ability to bridge theory and application has led to innovative solutions in fields as diverse as physics and biology. Ifeanyi Sunday Onah is not only a prolific researcher but also a dedicated educator. As a lecturer of Applied Mathematics at University of Nigeria, Nsukka, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the academic and professional careers of his students. His teaching philosophy, which emphasizes critical thinking and the practical application of mathematical concepts, has been the cornerstone of his success as an educator. In addition to his research and teaching responsibilities, he has served in various leadership roles within the academic community. His positions as Examination officer, timetable officer at University of Nigeria, Nsukka have allowed him to influence curricular development, research initiatives, and the overall direction of the department. Throughout his distinguished career, he has received numerous accolades and awards, including the an oversea scholarship to pursue a second PhD in Applied mathematics in the United Kingdom, as his expertise was needed in that area to fill the gap created in the area of fluid mechanics in the department of Mathematics, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He stands as a testament to the powerful impact of mathematics in solving real-world problems.
