Horace Loh received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Iowa in 1965. He was a faculty member at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center (UCSF) until 1988, when he became the Head of the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Minnesota. He served in this capacity and also as the Frederick and Alice Stark Professor in Neuroscience until 2012. Currently he is a Regents Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, at the University of Minnesota. He has served as a member of the editorial or editorial advisory board for more than 20 professional journals including Current Opinion in Pharmacology. He has also served as an associate editor of the Annual Review of Pharmacology and Toxicology, a position he held for over 20 years. He has over 645 original publications. He has been recognized by the University of Minnesota as the first recipient of the Medical School’s Distinguished Senior Scientist Award, and as one of the first inductees into the Academic Health Center’s Academy of Excellence. In 2010, he was named Regents Professor, the University’s highest faculty honor. He has received many honors awards first Presidential Award, and later the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of Chinese Bioscientists in America.
