Debi Prasad Tripathy is working as Professor in the Department of Mining Engineering at National Institute of Technology, Rourkela. He obtained his B.E. (Mining Engg.) from VNIT, Nagpur; M. Tech. from I.T., BHU; and Ph.D. from ISM, Dhanbad. He did PG Dip. in Ecology and Environment (IIEE, New Delhi); Master of Financial Management (Pondicherry) and PG Dip. in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations (Annamalai). He acted as HOD, Mining Engg. during 2010-2012. He has published more than 180 research and technical papers in reputed International and National Journals/Conferences and authored five books on: Noise Pollution, Dictionary of Environmental Science, Dictionary of Quotations, Dictionary of Earth Science and Environmental Pollution Research. He is an active member of several professional bodies: Chartered Engineer (I.E., India), FIE (I), FUWA, FISRMTT, LISTE, MMGMI and LMEAI. He has worked as Associate Professor at PNG University, Lae in 2007. He has been honored with MSPI Outstanding Personalities Award-2008, UWA Life Time Achievement Award, Chennai-2002, Gannet Memorial Award, 2009 from I.E. (I) and name included in Marquis Who in the World, 2009. In view of his academic/research contributions, he has been Honored with Abel Wolman Award of IE(I) in 2014, URR award, 2014 & 2015; Expert in Min. Env. MOEF; MEAI-Smt. Bala Tandon Award for significant contribution to improving environment, ecology in mining, Hyderabad in 2014; Smt. Veena Roonwal Memorial award for contribution for Environmental Management, SGAT, Bhubaneswar, 2014; Geo-minetech Excellence award, 2015; MGMI-Smt. Bala Tandon Award for significant contribution to improving quality of Life in Mine Environment, Kolkata in September 2015. He is member, editorial board and reviewer of many prestigious International Journals.
