Biography

Pulakes Purkait is a Molecular Anthropologist. With over a decade of experience in anthropological research he has contributed to scientific world at his best. He obtained his post-graduation degree in Biological Anthropology from Vidyasagar University, Medinipur and completed his doctoral research in Clinical Molecular Anthropology from Andhra University. At present he is doing his post doctoral (UGC) research work â€œepigenetic effects on metabolic diseases and fetal origin hypothesisâ€ in Panjab University, Chandigarh. He was a Scientist at DOUBLE HELIX, Clinical Cytogenetics and reproductive Immunology Centre, Delhi, India. As a core member he has worked on many projects related to Genetics of Chronic Diseases; Genetics of Diabetic nephropathy; DNA polymorphism and Disease genes; Phylogeny of Indian Population; Bio-cultural Diversity, Environment and Sustainable development and Bio-Cultural Adaptation etc., during his Junior and Senior Research Fellowship tenure in Anthropological Survey of India, Govt. of India. Over last few years he has been working among different Tribal communities across the India. All his research work has come to the light in form of dozen of research articles published in various journals of repute with international index and many more to come.
