Dilhani Dissanayake is a highly accomplished academic, historian, and consultant, celebrated for her expertise in the social and cultural history of food and cuisine, with a particular emphasis on cinnamon. Her groundbreaking PhD research, titled "Worlds First," delves into the history of cinnamon and cinnamon peelers, unearthing fascinating insights from a multitude of local and international newspapers and other media platforms. Currently, she is engaged in a project exploring cinnamon cultivation in Australia with the aim of introducing cinnamon plantations to the country. Currently, she serves as a Research Fellow at La Trobe University in Australia, where her work is greatly valued. Additionally, she holds the esteemed position of lecturer in the Bendigo Food for Thought lecture series. Dilhanis remarkable contributions extend to her active engagement with the United Nations Food System, where she has been recognised as a UN Food Hero for her outstanding dedication. She is presently immersed in the process of authoring an upcoming book, soon to be published by Manchester University Press.
