Biography

Fabrizio Desideri is Full Professor of Aesthetics at University  degli Studi di Firenze - Department of Lettere e Filosofia. In recent years, his research has concerned the project of a radical re-conception of aesthetics based on a new model of aesthetic mind. His last three books: La percezione riflessa. Estetica e filosofia della mente (Raffaello Cortina 2011), La misura del sentire. Per una riconfigurazione dellestetica (Mimesis 2013), Origine dellestetico. Dalle emozioni al giudizio (Carocci, 2018) represent the most significant outcomes. He is Editor in Chief of the online journal indexed in Scopus Aisthesis. Pratiche, linguaggi e saperi dellestetico (Firenze University Press) and co-editor of the journal Atque. Materiali tra filosofia e psicoterapia (Moretti & Vitali). He is member of the Scientific Committee of many philosophical Journals as Rivista di Estetica (Rosenberg & Sellier), Estetica. Studi e Ricerche (il Mulino), Nouvelle Revue desthtique (PUF), Paragrana. Internationale Zeitschrift Historische Anthropologie (De Gruyter).

Research Interests

Aesthetics and meta-aesthetics Philosophy of mind Theory of consciousness History of aesthetics (Kant Novalis Nietzsche Simmel Benjamin Adorno Goodman and the contemporary debate on ontology of art).
