Biography

Emmanuel Faye is professor of modern and contemporary philosophy at the University of Rouen Normandy. He resides in Paris, France. He has published many studies on the history of French Renaissance and classical modern philosophy, with a special expertise on Descartes and Cartesianism (Philosophie et perfection de l'homme. De la Renaissance  Descartes, Paris, Vrin, 1998). He is also the author of Heidegger: The Introduction of Nazism into Philosophy (Yale, 2009), and he has worked extensively on critiques of the dissemination of Nazism and other far-right thinking in Heidegger's wake, including the political significance of his students work, such as Arendt et Heidegger: Extermination nazie et destruction de la pense (Albin Michel, 2016). He is currently publishing a study entitled: Against Heidegger's Essential Right: The Humanity Principle, in : Confronting Heidegger, A Critical Dialogue on Politics and Philosophy, Edited by Gregory Fried (Rowman & Littlefield International, London-New York, 2019).
