Biography

Alexander Tavartkiladze graduated with honors from Tbilisi State Medical University, earning a red diploma from the Faculty of Medicine. He continued his education at the Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg, France, specializing in oncology, hematology, and internal medicine.
He holds four international work licenses in internal medicine, oncology, hematology, and clinical genetics. He has defended two theses: one in internal medicine on the role of melatonin, dopamine, and serotonin in the pathogenesis of primary arterial hypertension, and another in clinical oncology on the regulation of melatonin biosynthesis and its importance in aplastic anemia, Hodgkins lymphoma, and primary liver cancer. For his work in clinical oncology, he received the St. Albert Medal of Honor in Science and Philosophy at the 2012 Genes and Cancer Meeting at the University of Cambridge, UK. His research on the nervous systems role in cancer development has been widely translated, with Nobel laureate Professor Tim Hunt serving as a reviewer.
Dr. Tavartkiladze has also been recognized by the American Academy of Sciences with a gold medal for developing innovative breast cancer treatments. Dr. Tavartkiladze works at Tbilisi State Medical University as the scientific head of the Department of Clinical Oncology and as the medical director of the Institute of Personalized Medicine. He also practices as an oncologist at the Immunotherapy Department of Gustave Roussy Hospital in Paris, France.
