Mbah Chika John has born on the 16th July 1958. Had my primary and secondary school education at Abakaliki and Owerri respectively. Proceeded to study Pharmacy in 1978 and upon completion of my Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (B.Pharm.) in 1982, he immediately joined the services of the University of Nigeria in 1984 after my one-year post-graduate internship and one-year NYSC as a Graduate Assistant. At the university, on completion of my Master programme in 1986, he was converted to a lecturer II in the same year, and while serving as a lecturer in the Department, he also enrolled in a Doctoral degree programme which was completed in 1990 to become the 2nd doctoral graduate of the Department. He was promoted to lecturer he in 1990 and senior lecturer in 1993, Professor 2009 (on my return from United States of America). In 1993, he was appointed a postdoctoral fellow at Bay Shore Rehabilitation Systems, USA (1993-1994).This marked the beginning of my 14-year sojourn (Furlough) in USA during which I gained multiple experiences as Research Scientist, PTS Laboratories, USA (1994-1996); Senior Analyst, Metuchen Analytical, USA (1995-2001); Inter-laboratory Analyst, Narcotic Division, New York Police Department, USA (1998-2000) and Manager, Analytical Services, DMI, Inc, USA (2001-2007). On the return from United States of America in 2007, he have served within the University, as Acting Head, Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry (2007-2010), Head of Department (2013 to date), member, University Medical Centre Drug Revolving Fund Committee. He have also served in several Faculty committees both as chairman and member. I am the first substantive Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical & Medicinal Chemistry, being the first person to serve in that capacity as a Professor. He have served as External Examiner to Federal and State Universities, 2010 to Date; External Assessor, to Federal and State Universities 2012; 2014 and National Universities Commission (NUC), 2009, 2011. Chairman (or member) NUC Accreditation teams to Nigerian Universities, 2014, 2015.
