Biography

Sechaba Bareetseng holds a Master of Management in Innovation Studies, a PhD in Microbiology, and he has completed Postdoctoral Research in Biotechnology. He has 18 years of experience as a Programme Manager. He was specialized in research and development and Agro Manufacturing. His responsibilities include overseeing the Indigenous Knowledge Systems strategy, particularly focusing on the medicinal use of plants for human health. He handles operational plans, resource mobilisation (funding), and sustainability for the program.

Sechaba Bareetseng expertise extends to optimizing the entire Agro-manufacturing process, from supply chain management to production and quality control. He is proficient in managing agricultural products and implementing sustainable practices to ensure environmental responsibility. Additionally, He drives process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.

In the academic realm, He has lectured at the University of the North-West on The Nature and Patterns of Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) and Innovations. He explored the implications of Intellectual Property Rights on Indigenous Knowledge Systems/Traditional Knowledge. Currently, He supervises PhD and MSc students in Microbiology, Medicinal Microbiology, and Biological sciences and mentoring the university graduates. Additionally, He holds an affiliated Associate Professor position in Microbiology and Biochemistry at the University of the Free State in South Africa.
