Biography

In 2003, Pradeep Kumar Prabhakar completed his Bachelor of Pharmacy at RIPS, India, and his Master of Pharmacy in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at CPS, Mohuda, India, in 2006. In 2014, he obtained his Ph.D. in Biosciences and Bioengineering from IITB, India, where he researched the structure-function relationship of α-2,3/8-sialyltransferase from Campylobacter jejuni through site-directed mutagenesis and molecular dynamics simulations. He held postdoctoral research positions in Dr. Moremens lab at CCRC, UGA, studying mammalian glycosyltransferases, and in Dr. Jarvis lab, where he focused on glycoengineering HIV-specific monoclonal antibodies. Currently, he is a Senior Research Associate in Dr. Urbanowicz lab at CCRC, UGA, studying carbohydrate-active enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of plant cell wall matrix polysaccharides. Recently, he started serving as Co-PI on a DOE-funded project that aims to characterize Spirodela polyrhiza GTs from GT-47.
