Biography

Dr. Tharun Sundaresan is an Associate Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), Bethesda, Maryland. He is the director of the interdisciplinary Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB) graduate program and course director of the medical and graduate biochemistry courses at the USUHS. He obtained his Ph.D from the Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB; affiliated to the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India), Hyderabad, India. He carried out his post-doctoral research at the Howard Hughes medical institute in the University of Arizona in the laboratory of Dr. Roy Parker.

mRNA decay mechanisms with a particular focus on Lsm1-7-Pat1 complex mediated mRNA decapping
