Shirani Ranasinghe graduated from Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and animal Sciences, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. She joined the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine, and University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. She did Master degree in Biochemistry in Miyazaki University, Japan and Completed the PhD degree at Kagoshima University Japan. She was engaged in many researches in the field of analytical Biochemistry, and published many scientific articles in well recognized journals and presented many international conferences. Later, she was appointed as Senior Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Currently she is serving as Professor of Biochemistry at the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine, Manipal University College of Malaysia in Malaysia. In 2023, she was invited as a visiting scientist at Research Center of Eco Environmental Sciences (RCEES) Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing. She was attached to the State Key Laboratory of Environmental Aquatic Chemistry, and working in the group of Environmental Microbiology Technology on optimization and effluent safety for municipal waste water. She engaged in identification of pathogens and antibiotic resistance genes in water by qPCR and detecting antibiotics as contaminants by LC/MS and HPLC. She is working in a group of researchers experts in this field.
