Tarek Ganat, PhD, joined the Petroleum and chemical Engineering Department at Sultan Qaboos University, Oman, as a lecturer in 2021. Dr. Tarek has BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees, all in petroleum engineering, and has more than 27 years of experience in petroleum production and reservoir engineering through his participation in integrated studies with different oil and gas companies, such as Gowoff Oil Company, Libya; Repsol Exploration Company, Spain; Petro-Canada Oil Company, Canada; and Petronas Grigali Oil Company, Malaysia. His professional experience comes from his work in the oil and gas industry in tanning centers and from his work that focused on subsurface evaluation for green fields and brown fields. He has a wide range of overseas experience gained in fractured carbonate and clastic reservoir characterization and full field development. He also has considerable experience in the application of petroleum-industry related packages in multinational and multicultural joint ventures. He has authored three textbooks published with Springer and has published many papers in journals and conferences (ISI [Q1 & Q2] journals and Scopus). In addition, he is one of the reviewers for the Journal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology. Dr. Tarek managed to secure two research grants pertaining to Petronas Oil Company as project leader, with a cumulative amount of about RM380,000, and two research grants as project leader, for EOR projects with a cumulative amount of about $23,670.
