Jiaan Yang is an expert in bioinformatics for protein structure with working experience in academic research and pharmaceutical companies. Jiaan Yang completed Ph.D. degree in physical chemistry at Louisiana State University in 1989; received a M.S. degree from Theoretical Chemistry Institute, Jilin University, China in 1981; He is CEO/CSO, Micro Biotech, Ltd.; Adjunct Professor, Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (2011- Present); Jiaan Yang worked at Discovery IT, Eli Lilly and Company as Sr. System Analyst (1998-2006); President & CSO, MicroTechNano, LLC (2006-Present). Yang focused on proteins structure informatics, and successfully developed the protein structure fingerprinting technology, which is able to provide a complete folding description for any protein with given 3D structure, and also to provide a comprehensive folding variations matrix for any proteins unknown structure according its sequence only. With data mining through protein databases, it is significance for research in protein structures, and drug discoveries including ligand binding sites, vaccines and antibodies.
