Muhammad Tariq Pervez, Ph. D. is working in the capacity of Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, Virtual University of Pakistan (VUP). He serves as Head of Department of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology and Department of Biology in VUP. He received Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from University of Agriculture of Faisalabad, Pakistan in 2001, Master’s degree in Computer Science from University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore Pakistan in 2010 and his Ph.D. degree in Bioinformatics from University of Veterinary and Animal Science Lahore Pakistan in 2014. His work focuses on analysis and developing computational methods for high throughput sequencing data. He supervised research work of several BS Computer Science/ Bioinformatics and MS Computer Science/ Bioinformatics students. He has authored/ co-authored in more than 30 peer reviewed articles. He arranged several workshops on analysis of NGS data and Variant calling and SNPs analysis funded by Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan. He won a travel ward and participated in a workshop on developing tools for big alignments arranged by University of taxis at Austin USA. He is participating actively in several administrative and teaching activities in VUP.
