Biography

Pramod Yadava has been a Professor at the School of Life Sciences, JNU since 1998 with major interest in developing nucleic acid tools (targeted ribozymes and RNA aptamers, shRNA and siRNA) to modulate biological functions related to human health and disease. His group demonstrated delay in the onset of rheumatoid arthritis following administration of hammerhead ribozyme targeting tumor necrosis factor alpha in mouse model of collagen-induced arthritis. It has been shown that several molecules are positively or negatively associated with hTR and hTERT in cultured cells derived from different types of cancers. Translationally controlled tumor proteins seems to be a mediator of TGF beta-induced epithelial to mesenchymal transition. Roles of PLAT, PLAU, PLAUR, and MET in EMT are also studied in Pramod Yadava's lab. Earlier, he pursued post-doctoral career in Zurich (1986-90), Indian Institute of Science (1981-85), JNU (1979-81) and BHU (1977-79) in diverse areas including recombinant RNA replicons, molecular basis of plant-microbe interactions and primary processes in photosynthesis. He also led the School of Life Sciences as Dean during 2006-08.
