Biography

Shinya Shimada is Director, Kumamoto General Hospital, Japan Community Health Care Organization, Kumamoto, Japan, and Clinical Professor, Department of Gastroenterological Surgery, Graduate School of Medical Sciences Kumamoto University, Japan. He received his medical degree from Kumamoto University, F.A.C.S. degree from American College of Surgeons, and completed a program of collaborative research as a Visiting Associate at Tumor Immunology and Biology, NIH, NCI, USA. He has served exclusively as a specialist in the surgical and medical treatment of gastrointestinal cancer throughout his career. He is also a research expert in tumor immunology, carcinogenesis, cancer dissemination, and novel treatment of gastrointestinal cancer. Consequently, he is evaluated as one of the leading clinical and research expert on gastroenterological tumors in Japan.
