Biography

Alicja Pecio born in Pulawy, Poland in 1959. She graduated from the Agricultural Academy in Lublin, Poland, in 1982. Later that year she has worked for three months at the Lublin Agricultural Chemical Station. In October 1982 She began my work for the Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation in the Department of Cereal Crop Cultivation and then in 1998 in the Department of Plant Nutrition and Fertilization, where She is currently employed. In 1994 she has got my PhD in agronomy and in 2014 I was nominated for Professor of agricultural sciences by President of Poland.

She international experience included scientific trainings at North Dakota State University, USA as a visiting scientist in barley breeding programs, at the Research Institute for Agrobiology and Soil Fertility AB-DLO in Wageningen, the Netherlands, at the Institute of Land Use Systems and Landscape Ecology in Müncheberg, Germany and at the University of Helsinki, Finland. She participated in the following EU projects: EUROPP Efficiency in Use of Resources: Optimization in Potato Production, Contract No. CT961560; EUROCROP Agricultural Research for Improving Arable Crops Competitiveness, 6th FP, Contract no. 022757; CATCH-C Compatibility of Agricultural Management Practices and Types of Farming in the EU to Enhance Climate Change Mitigation and Soil Health, 7th FP, Contract no. 289782; Pro Fi Cien Cy Managing the Production of Food and Feedstuff, their Safety and Quality under Global Climate Change, 7th FP, Grant agreement no. 245751 and POLAPGEN Biotechnological tools in cereal crop breeding for increased drought resistance, Project no. WND-POIG.01.03.01.-00-101/08. She also used to be the member of Scientific Network AGRORISKS on elimination of agricultural risks to health and environment.
