Biography

Inhyung Lee is a distinguished professor and accomplished researcher in the field of food microbiology. He currently holds the position of Professor in the Department of Bio and Fermentation Convergence Technology at Kookmin University in Seoul, Korea. He received both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Food Science and Technology from Seoul National University. His thirst for advanced education led him to the University of California at Davis, where he earned his degree of Philosophy of Doctor with a specialization in Microbiology in 1995. Throughout his illustrious career, he has held various key positions at esteemed institutions around the world. He started as a Researcher at the Genetic Engineering Center of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology. He also served as a Post-doctoral Researcher at the Department of Biology, Texas A&M University and as a Visiting Research Associate at the School of Biological Science, University of Missouri-Kansas City. He has held multiple leadership roles at Kookmin University, including serving as the Head of the Department of Foods and Nutrition and the Head of the Department of Fermentation Science and Technology. Additionally, he has served as the Director of the Bio and Fermentation Convergence Technology Research Institute at Kookmin University. In addition to his academic roles, he actively participates in various professional societies and associations. He is a member of scientific organizations such as the Korean Society for Microbiology and Biotechnology and the Korean Society of Food Science and Technology. He has also held editorial positions for reputable scientific journals, including Food Science and Biotechnology, Journal of Microbiology, and the Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology. His dedication and significant contributions to his field have been recognized through numerous honors and awards. His research has been acknowledged with awards like the Excellent Paper Award from the Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology and multiple awards for excellent presentations and posters from prestigious scientific conferences. In 2021, he received the Sinsong Academic Achievement Award for excellence in research and contributions to the industry from the Korean Society for Microbiology and Biotechnology.
