Biography

She is a Hungarian physician who graduated with a summa cum laude from Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical School in Szeged, Hungary. She is also an American PhD in Neuroscience from Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences in New York, New York and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. After spending about 10 years of her career in different Neuroscience laboratories in Hungary and the United States she spent another 13 years of her career teaching Anatomy & Physiology in Hungary, the United States, and Saudi Arabia to undergraduate and medical students.She cloned and characterized a protein, HuD: a Human Brain Paraneoplastic Antigen in the Neurology Department of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, USA. The original HuD paper was published in Cell and has as of late reached a citation index of 500. The discovery of the HuD protein opened a new field in Neuroscience and many laboratories continue the work that she started even to this day. Currently, she is an assistant professor of Anatomy at Alfaisal University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She especially enjoy teaching Histology. She established and launched virtual microscopy at Alfaisal University. Some of her educational research aims at finding out how new digital microscopy has improved and accelerated histology learning. She is also interested in the interaction of the RNA binding protein HuD and the components of mTOR signaling in neuroblastoma.
