Biography

Mohammad Alinoor Rahman is motivated researcher with expertise in RNA biology, posttranscriptional RNA processing and mRNA quality control. His research is dedicated to understand RNA processing defects in human diseases including cancer. He did his Ph.D. with Professor Kinji Ohno at Center for Neurological Diseases and Cancer in Nagoya University, Japan. I investigated the mechanism of pathogenic splicing mutations identified in patients suffering with a neuromuscular junction (NMJ) disorder called congenital myasthenic syndromes (CMS). He also worked to develop in silico web program (IntSplice) to predict splicing consequences of intronic mutations. Later he joined Nagoya University as an Assistant Professor and made extensive contribution to understand RNA splicing regulating the molecular architecture of NMJ and promoting neuromuscular signal transmission. He is currently working as a Postdoctoral Fellow with Professor Adrian Krainer at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory to understand the mechanism of oncogenic splicing factor mutations in myelodysplastic syndrome and leukemia, with the focus to develop ASO (antisense oligo)-based targeted therapy for MDS and leukemia.
