Biography

Elisa Maria Costa e Silva de Paiva began her academic training in 1999, at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, which is the most respectable federal institution in Brazil, in Biological Science Course. And she achieved her Master’s Degree in 2006 in the area of Zoology at the National Museum/UFRJ. After that, she had a maternity break. Recently (2017) she had her phD degree achieved at the same university combined with a part in Auburn University (Alabama, USA). In her thesis, she worked with transcriptomes, genomes and proteomes, investigating how blood pigments; hemoglobins, hemerythrins, and hemocyanins evolved in Metazoa.

Research Interests

Molecular evolution which includes gene genome and proteome evolution. DNA sequencing methods Genomic techniques and Molecular genetics
